June 17th : Budapest & Disembarkation

After the grand finale on the shores of Budapest, all the passengers from our two week long cruise bid each other farewell & safe journeys as each followed their various plans and itineraries on homeward bound routes.

We were luck to be able to be one of the last guests to check out of AmaDolce since our next destination was Munich, there are frequent high speed trains that we may take in the afternoon for the 7 hr journey. We thus took a final morning stroll of Budapest - the pedestrian only Vaci utca center of Pest. Many boutiques and cafes lined the boulevard and we had the heart, though not the appetite (due to wonderful full menus on board our ship, including delicious Hungarian Goulash soup), to want to sample some of the local specialties : sausages and meatloafs & chicken with red pepper paprikas, all sorts of goulash, fogas (fish from Lake Balaton, largest freshwater in Eastern Europe), and the ubiquitous veal paprikash.

Well, looks like we'll need a return visit someday & stay at least a few days to sample the local fare and pay a visit to New York cafe in the Boscolo Budapest Hotel - considered to be the "best cafe in the world" made famous by the literary set during the Belle Epoque. It's good to leave something for next time ..so viszontlatasra for now!
